Today's walk: Caermote Hill (Wainwright's Outlying Fells p206)

slab bridge and ford on the lane leaving Bothel

the first gateway - still muddy as in Wainwright's day ..

.. but pleasantly grassy as it leads onto the ridge

windswept hawthorns are a feature of this hill - here looking north

looking north down the ridge - the barbed wire fence not giving any problem at the moment

Wharrels Hill windfarm from the ridge

another windswept tree and improving skies to the south

the earthwork and beacon site on the ridge

is a walker here such a strange sight? - Binsey behind the spectators

approaching Caermote Hill summit

Wharrels Hill from Caermote Hill summit

Caermote summit - AW's picture looking east to Binsey but without Betty

the memorial boulder - AW sketching it didn't have the photographer's problem of an intrusive shadow!

Clints Crags and Moota Hill from the slopes of Caermote Hill

Binsey with the Roman fort in front from the slopes of Caermote Hill

looking south from the slopes of Caermote Hill

another shot of the fort with Binsey behind

the tree lined drive to Mountain View Stables

contrary to AW's advice the shorter route back IS a right of way - looking back towards Binsey
