Today's walk (Keswick rambling club): Thornthwaite - Barf - Lord's Seat - Thornthwaite

setting off through birch trees past the bishop's clerk rock

queueing to tackle the rock step

zooming in on Clough Head and Latrigg from above the step

coming up to Barf with Lord's Seat in the distance

Skiddaw and the head of Bass Lake from near the top of Barf

looking down Bassenthwaite Lake to Binsey from near the top of Barf

sunbeams southwards with Causey Pike to the right

Derwentwater from near the top of Barf

Lionel measuring the 40mph windspeed on top of Barf - Skiddaw behind

heading for Lord's Seat

looking back to Barf and Skiddaw from the slopes of Lord's Seat ..

.. and climbing into some snow

struggling against the wind to Barf summit ..

.. where the strongest gust was measured at 52mph

still windy on the descent southwards with Grisedale Pike ahead

the rather icy track down into the forest

on the forest road with the Helvellyn ridge in the distance ..

.. and further down with Keswick and Derwentwater below

zooming in on Keswick with the Dodds behind ..

.. and further left the Mell Fells and Clough Head with Latrigg in front

Grisedale Pike from the forest road

the lane back with Barf and the bishop ahead
