Today's walk: Orrest Head (Wainwright's Outlying Fells p 26)

the rooftops of Windermere village with the lake beyond

the very minor road heading up to Orrest Head

woods on the way up

robin beside the path

the final fenced lane ..

.. leading to a kissing gate onto the open felltop

the view indicator on the summit looking west over Windermere

snow shower over Windermere

the view indicator with sun on Wetherlam

zooming in on Wetherlam

fields to the east

descending northwards

looking back up the descent path through a snow shower

Orrest Head from the north

entering the wood on the return path

looking back along the return path
I went to the top again hoping for a clearer panoramic view

the memorial tablet at the kissing gate now in sunshine

sun and stormy skies westwards from the summit

looking north to the Ill Bell ridge with sun on Troutbeck Tongue in front

looking over Windermere to the Langdale Pikes

looking east over fields now almost clear of snow ..

.. but still plenty to the southeast

looking down the length of Windermere

strange clouds and a snowstorm westwards

zooming in on the Langdale Pikes
