the track to Side House with a 2 year old warning of tree felling - Potter Fell in mist ahead

Side House

looking back to Side House ..

.. and onward up the hill

this 250 yards of track has a small "no public access" sign ..

.. ignoring it I emerged through this gate with no hostile sign for descending walkers

Brunt Knott summit after the hailstorm looking towards Kentmere lost in mist ..

.. but westwards the Langdale Pikes appear below the cloud ..

.. and so do peaks to the south east

looking east to the 1266' top

the direct route is barred by a new fence crossed by veering south onto the right of way ..

.. which leads to this easy stile towards the 1266' top

this might be AW's "gap used by sheep" but it is now barred by six strands of barbed wire

this map (perhaps infringing copyright) shows an alternative

a good track develops as you approach the first gate

this one gives (useless) access to the field which is CRoW access land but barred in every other direction

and this welcoming new gate replaces AW's awkward stile at the field corner for Ulgraves
