Today's walk: Ings - Crook Knott - Dales Way - Staveley

the very quiet gated road heading south from Ings ..

.. and passing under the Oxenholme to Windermere railway

looking back down the road before taking the path to Borwick Fold

the start of the bridleway south from Borwick Fold

looking back at Borwick Fold farmhouse from the bridleway

now on the Dales Way heading east

the gate leading onto the HuMP Crook Knott

no view from the top despite its lowly height of 256m

descending north from the top back towards the Dales Way

an unusual bird running along the Dales Way ..

.. jumps onto the wall but is very reluctant to fly ..

.. my bird book suggests that it is a Red-legged Partridge

a hint of brightness through the drizzle to the east

the path heading down towards Staveley

a bit of blue sky eastwards from the bridge over the Staveley bypass ..

.. but still very black westwards over the Lakeland hills

blue sky and haymaking in the fields close to Staveley

sunshine on Staveley Village Hall
