a rather inauspicious start on a very overgrown path from Helmside

an unusual gate reserved for quad bikes with Calf Top behind

a brief moment of sunshine as we join a better path through this gate

looking back down the long, gentle and very wet path up the west ridge of Aye Gill Pike ..

.. now on access land with stiles over what were very awkward walls when I first climbed it

Susan and Lionel at the top of Aye Gill Pike

after lunch a brighter sky but still no distant views

descending the west ridge with Sedbergh ahead

a vague view northwards to the Howgill fells

a very brief moment of sunshine

the one tree on the ridge with Calf Top beyond

stormy sky over Dentdale

another brief moment of sunshine on the slopes of Aye Gill Pike

descending to Lunds with Calf Top ahead

the southern slopes of Aye Gill Pike

on guard at Lunds

Lunds farmhouse

looking down on the village of Dent

looking over Dentdale to Calf Top from the return path through the fields

on the field path back to Helmside
