upstream from Portinscale bridge - the River Derwent is usually just left of the fenceline

downstream from Portinscale bridge - the river course usually left of the fence ..

.. and this is not a river but the path to Keswick and a layby usually full of school buses

not far into the grounds of the Derwentwater Hotel we meet the current foot of Derwentwater ..

.. and this is the other end of what is usually a pleasant through path
