today's walk: Cumrew Fell

the top of Newbiggin village with my ascent track on the left

an open gate on this excellent track

looking back down the track ..

.. and again from higher up

looking down the valley

old quarry south of the track

this pile of stones on the first top on the ridge appears to have once been more than just a cairn

looking from this point towards the summit with a good track continuing along the ridge

the very vague summit of Cumrew Fell looking west to the big cairn on Cardunneth Pike

the trig point further north is 1m lower

Cold Fell from just through the gateway beside the trig point

approaching the enormous cairn on Cardunneth Pike over rough ground directly from the trig point

looking west over the Eden Valley from Cardunneth Pike

looking north to the Solway from Cardunneth Pike

looking back to the cairn on Cardunneth Pike from its southern escarpment

looking south along the escarpment

stony track heading south from the top of Cumrew Fell

further down a good smooth track still heading south

zooming in over sheep and the Eden Valley to the distant Lakeland skyline

zooming over the Eden Valley to the back of Skiddaw fells

my return track south of the valley is in much worse condition then the one on the north

looking back up the track from lower down

the lower part of the track

back in Newbiggin

Eden Bridge on the way home
